ChargebackDesk · FAQ

Questions, answered before you send anything

Every answer below is the same answer you'll find in the Terms, the Privacy Policy, and the service agreement you accept in the app. Where they differ, the agreement controls.

The service

Do you submit the evidence for me?

Nothing is submitted without your explicit approval of that case. On today's exports-only service, you review the packet, confirm the facts match your records, and submit it in your own Stripe dashboard.

If we later offer an optional connected path, you would review the packet and click "Approve & submit" on that case, and ChargebackDesk would transmit the exact packet you reviewed. Without that click on that case, nothing is submitted.

Is ChargebackDesk legitimate?

Here is what you can check for yourself. The desk is run by a named founder, Dheeraj Kumar, whose sign-off line appears on every packet (About). The full service agreement is published with its version label and sha256, and the app shows the same text and hash when you accept it (read it). Nothing is charged up front: Our fee is 20% of what you recover, charged only if you win. If you lose or we decline, our fee is $0. Stripe's own dispute fees are separate. We invoice only after the recovery lands.

We never ask for your Stripe password, secret or restricted API keys, bank logins, or card numbers, and we only ever write from addresses ending in @thechargebackdesk.com (Contact). This site sets no cookies and loads nothing from third parties (Security & data). Our legal entity and notice address are listed in the Terms and in the footer. We are an independent service, not affiliated with or endorsed by Stripe, Inc. And we are new: we have no logos, testimonials, or win statistics to show you, so we show the work instead — a fictional sample packet and the checklists we apply.

What do you need from me?

Exports only: the dispute record, the receipt, and your delivery/usage logs from your Stripe dashboard and your platform. We never ask for your password, your secret API key, bank logins, or full card numbers — and we refuse them if offered.

What is in a packet?

A short factual narrative, an evidence index where every exhibit names its source, the exhibits themselves, and a "what is NOT included — and why" section. Every packet is checked against the minimum-evidence checklist for its dispute category, then read and signed off by a person before delivery. The sample packet shows the complete structure with fabricated data.

What if my records don't support the case?

We refuse the case, name the missing item, and charge nothing. We never invent, reconstruct, or "improve" evidence.

We also refuse a case if your records show the customer is right. If the evidence is missing, inconsistent, or insufficient, we tell you why and do not charge for it. You can audit any packet against its source materials on request.

Who is this for — and who can't you help?

Sellers of digital goods — online courses, coaching and high-ticket programs, software, SaaS and plugins — who take payment on their own Stripe account.

If a platform or marketplace took the payment as merchant of record (for example Gumroad, Paddle, Lemon Squeezy, or an app store), the dispute belongs to that platform and only it can answer — we can't take the case. If you ship physical products, this service is not built for you. We also decline businesses on Stripe's Prohibited and Restricted Businesses list and any case or account that fails our screening.

Do you use AI?

Yes, under human review. Packet assembly is AI-assisted through a commercial API under terms that do not allow training on your data, and we never use your data to train models ourselves. Before delivery a person reads every packet against the source files and signs it off; the "Checked by Dheeraj Kumar, founder" line is printed only from the per-packet sign-off record.

Deadlines

How close to the deadline can I start?

We need your case at least 4 days (96 hours) before Stripe's evidence due-by date. Inside 96 hours we decline rather than gamble with a deadline that loses the dispute automatically if it's missed.

When will I get the packet?

When we have your case at least 4 days (96 hours) before Stripe's due-by, we deliver your packet at least 72 hours before it. If we accept a case and miss the 72-hour delivery, our fee on that case is $0. You are responsible for submitting the packet in Stripe before the due-by date; a packet delivered to you does not extend Stripe's deadline.

I have Smart Disputes auto-submit on. Can I use you?

Yes, but only one response goes in, so decide which. Stripe treats the evidence on a dispute as effectively a single submission, and with auto-submissions enabled Stripe submits its own Smart Disputes packet shortly before the deadline on the disputes it covers. Our packet reaches you at least 72 hours before the due-by date. If you want to use it, submit it yourself in Stripe before Stripe's automatic submission, or turn auto-submission off in your Stripe dispute settings for that period.

Which disputes Smart Disputes covers, what it costs, and when Stripe submits are Stripe's rules, not ours — check the dispute in your Dashboard and Stripe's own documentation. The comparison page sets the two paths, and doing it yourself, side by side.

I'm inside 96 hours. What now?

You can still answer the dispute yourself before the due-by date. The guide for your category lists what to include, and the free checker shows what you have. We decline every case inside 96 hours — only write to us if the real due-by date is later than what you entered.

Money

What does it cost?

Our fee is 20% of what you recover, charged only if you win. If you lose or we decline, our fee is $0. Stripe's own dispute fees are separate.

No minimum, no maximum. Our fee is also $0 on disputes you handled yourself. No setup fee, no subscription, no per-alert fees, no monthly minimums. We invoice when the recovery lands, and invoices are due 14 days after issue.

Worked example: a $297 dispute won in full means $297 recovered, so our fee is $59.40. "Recovered" means the disputed amount Stripe returns to your balance when the dispute is decided in your favor (service agreement §2). Stripe's own dispute fees are separate and are not part of the recovered amount.

Do you guarantee I'll win?

No. We do not guarantee that any dispute will be won, that any particular rate of success will be achieved, or that any funds will be returned. Disputes are decided by card networks and issuing banks, and honest, complete packets sometimes lose. What we promise is the work: packets built only from your sourced records, delivered on the timelines above, or a refusal that tells you exactly why.

Is there an agreement?

Yes. A versioned service agreement is accepted in the app before a case proceeds; it states the fee, the deadline rules, and how your data is handled and deleted.

Data

What happens to my data?

We use the materials you send only to prepare packets for you. We never sell your data, never use it to train AI models, and never use it for advertising. We delete your dispute data and evidence files within 30 days after each case closes, and any remaining data within 30 days after the agreement ends, keeping only invoices and the agreement itself for accounting and legal records. Details: Security & data and the Privacy Policy.

What does the free checker send?

Your checklist answers, dates, and score never leave your browser — there is no signup, and we see none of them. The page sends only anonymous usage counts to our own app (for example "checker started", "result shown", and the dispute category picked), with no personal details. The site sets no cookies and loads no third-party scripts.

Will you ever ask for API access?

Today the service works from exports only, and we also refuse restricted API keys. If we later offer an optional connected path, it will work only through a restricted key that you create in your own Stripe Dashboard, limited to five permission areas — read and write for disputes and dispute files; read-only for charges, customers, and events — and that you can revoke at any time. Even then, nothing is submitted without your explicit approval of that case.

Starting

How do I start?

Run the free checker first (about two minutes, no signup) — it applies the same minimum-evidence checklists we use, shows you what you're missing, and flags how much time you have left. If there's time and the minimums are met, start the case from the checker's result. Starting a case takes a sign-in link to your email — no password. The case page lists exactly what to upload.
